The 73rd Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was held on November 25, 1999 in New York City, and shown to viewers on NBC that same day from 9 a.m. to noon EST. It was hosted by Katie Couric, Matt Lauer, and Al Roker. The lineup featured 12 giant balloons, 19 novelty balloons, 26 floats and falloons, six toy floats, 14 marching/novelty bands, 35 clown units, and a host of celebrity performers.

  • This is the second pre-1994 Parade that did not feature the Radio City Rockettes welcoming the Parade into Herald Square. Instead, the Broadway cast of Kiss Me, Kate heralded the Parade into Herald Square.
  • Akin to the previous year, the Wild Thing balloon failed to make an appearance; this time, as a result of faulty inflation chambers.
