The 76th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was held on November 28, 2002, in New York City and broadcast live on NBC that same day from 9 a.m. to noon EST. The telecast was hosted by Katie Couric, Matt Lauer, and Al Roker. The lineup featured 14 giant helium balloons, 28 floats and four toy floats, 10 novelty balloons, 500 clowns, 12 marching bands, 1,000 cheerleaders, scores of celebrities, and the one-and-only Santa Claus.

  • Cheesasaurus Rex's right arm was shredded, but the balloon was able to complete its appearance.

Notes and References[]

  1. Country superstar Alan Jackson was orginally scheduled to appear on the Three Little Pigs float, performing a song from his then-forthcoming holiday album. However, he would be unable to make an appearance.
  2. America Sings! performed the opening number of the NBC telecast of the Parade; they later rounded out the lineup, following behind the Santa's Sleigh float.
