The 81st Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was held on November 22, 2007, in New York City and shown to viewers live on NBC that same day from 9 a.m. to noon EST. It was hosted by Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira, and Al Roker. The lineup featured 11 giant helium balloons, 31 novelty/ornament balloons and balloonicles, 24 floats, 11 marching bands, over 1,900 cheerleaders, dancers, singers and performers, 800 clowns, a host of celebrity performers, and the one-and-only Santa Claus.

  • Celebrities interviewed by Al Roker at the starting line during the broadcast's first hour included Jane Krakowski (30 Rock), Patti LaBelle (Clash of the Choirs), Masi Oka and Ali Larter (Heroes), and Christopher Meloni (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit).
  • Comedian Bob Saget (then starring in The Drowsy Chaperone on Broadway and hosting NBC's 1 vs. 100) was featured in a segment in which he outlined the Parade route from a helicopter.
  • The 2007 Parade's NBC telecast was nominated for two Daytime Emmy Awards; Outstanding Special Class Directing (losing to Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade), and Outstanding Special Class Special (losing to America's Invisible Children: The Homeless Education Crisis in America).[2]
