The Colicky Kid (also known as Wa-Wa) was a Macy's original character balloon from the Macy's Christmas Parade.

History with the Macy's Parade[]

The Colicky Kid balloon made its Macy's Parade debut in 1933, becoming one of the last giant balloons made when it was still a Christmas Parade. Designed by Tony Sarg, the design was of a child "crying", with its outfit including shorts and a striped shirt with a Macy's star, with it also being one of the few giant balloons to incorporate sound into the balloon. In the Colicky Kid's case, a child crying would be heard down the streets of Manhattan.

During the balloon's Parade debut, its left hand was punctured sometime along the route. Despite its damages, it would reach 34th Street without issues. It would be the only returning balloon in 1934, before it was retired, with it only appearing at the Santason Parade in Boston after that sometime in the 1930s. It would eventually be disposed of by 1984.
