Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Wiki

The Owl and the Pussy-Cat is a poem that was written by artist and poet Edward Lear in 1871. The story tells the story of the Owl and the Pussy-Cat, a couple who sets on a journey to get married in the land where the Bong-tree grows. Also appearing in the story are a pig, who provides the couple with a wedding ring, and a turkey, who marries them.

History with the Macy's Parade[]

A toy float based on the poem was made for the 1960 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The toy float's design featured the Owl and the Pussy-Cat in their boat, as they face the rough seas down the Parade route.

The toy float was retired from the main Parade after the 1965 procession. It would later appear at that year's Macy's White Plains Christmas Yule Parade and was disposed of sometime after.
