The Simpsons RV is a specialty Parade unit that appeared exclusively in Macy's Holiday Parade at Universal Orlando Resort.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
The Simpsons RV made its first appearance in the 2009 edition of Macy's Holiday Parade. The float was modeled after an RV depicted in The Simpsons episode, The Call of the Simpsons. In the episode, Homer rents a very modest RV from Bob's RV Round-Up, with which his family is not pleased. Homer, Bart, Marge and Lisa all wave from the float. At the helm of the rig is Grampa Simpson, who seems to have fallen asleep at the wheel. Santa's Little Helper can be seen sat in the passenger seat, and a large sign proclaiming "Universal Studios or Bust!" is hung on the side of the RV. Plastered on the side of the RV are several stickers referencing business and episodes from The Simpsons. Props from the show are sprinkled discretely on the float, including Lisa's saxophone, various cases of Duff beer, boxes of donuts, a barbecue and a steaming barrel of toxic waste.
The Simpsons RV would continue to make appearances in the Macy's Holiday Parade until 2016, when it was retired to make way for the Parade's rebranding to Universal's Holiday Parade featuring Macy's.
Since its retirement from the Parade, it has made various appearances at Universal Studios Orlando carrying The Simpsons characters out to their meet and greet location, where it would then be used as a background for photo-ops.
