The Temptations are a vocal group known for their series of hit singles and albums released through Motown Records in the 60’s and early 70’s, including “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone”, “My Girl”, “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg”, and “Get Ready”. The group is considered the definitive vocal group of the 1960's, a title attributed to the member’s distinct harmonies, choreography, and dress style. They are among the most successful and popular music groups of all time, having 19 albums that have reached either platinum or gold, selling tens of millions of albums, and lending a significant influence to the genres of R&B and soul.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
The Temptations made their first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade appearance in 1971, sailing along on the waterlogged Broadway Belle Showboat float. The group performed “Superstar (Remember How You Got Where You Are)” in Herald Square, promoting its forthcoming album Solid Rock.
In 2024, the Temptations will return to the Parade on The Wondership float from Wonder.
