The Tropical Fruit Clowns are a clown unit from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

History with the Macy's Parade[]

The Tropical Fruit Clowns made their first appearance in the 1995 Parade, then known as the Bananas & Pineapple Clowns. The high-fructose funny folk featured a-peel-ing bananas and ten parading pineapples who were led by their Carmen Miranda-inspired clown captain. The clown unit congaed their way down Broadway in tropical fashion.

The clown unit gained the "Tropical Fruit" name in 1996, when the banana costumes were added to the Banana Split Clown group. Float escort costumes from Jell-O's World of Wiggle float joined the group in 2002 following its retirement. The clown unit was retired after the 2004 Parade, and the Carmen Miranda costume would later be used for the Bananas & Palm Tree Clowns in 2011.
