War is an American R&B and progressive soul band from Long Beach, California, formed in 1969. The band is known for several hit songs from the 1970's including "Spill the Wine", "The World Is a Ghetto", "The Cisco Kid", "Why Can't We Be Friends?", "Low Rider", and "Summer". War became known for its eclectic blend of funk, soul, jazz, rock, and a unique combination of the different sounds and styles the band members heard living in the racially-diverse ghettos of Los Angeles.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
The current roster of War made their debut at the 2024 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. For their appearance on the NBC telecast of the Parade, the band played the classic "Why Can't We Be Friends?" on Nickelodeon's "Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" float.
