Wayne Newton is an American singer and actor who was considered one of the most popular singers in the United States and known by several nicknames such as "The Midnight Idol", "Mr. Las Vegas" and "Mr. Entertainment". Newton remains one of the best-known and highest-grossing entertainers in Las Vegas since perfroming in 1963. Throughout his career, Newton has also appeared in a number of movies and television shows. His well known songs include "Summer Wind" (1965), "Red Roses for a Blue Lady" (1965), "Daddy, Don't You Walk So Fast" (1972) "Years" (1980) and "Danke Schoen" (1963) which was Newton's signature song and was notably used in the 1986 movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

The handsome Mr. Newton from Vegas made his lucky participation at the 1966 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade as he went down the route on the new Cinderella float from Chevrolet.
