The Western Carolina University Pride of the Mountains Marching Band is the marching band of Western Carolina University, located in Cullowhee, North Carolina. Known as the 'Pride of the Mountains' marching band, this high-energy, drum corps-style ensemble performs throughout the United States at various parades and Bands of America competitions. The ensemble was the winner of the prestigious Sudler Trophy in 2009.
History with the Macy's Parade[]
The Pride of the Mountains Marching Band first performed in the 2014 Parade as the leading band in the lineup and they played Billy Joel's "I've Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway".
They would return to the 2019 Parade, playing renditions of Bon Jovi's "Livin' on a Prayer" and Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'".
