Wonder Bread is a brand of sliced bread that was founded in 1921 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Wonder Bread is credited with the popularization of sliced bread in the United States and is said to capture the "wonder" that founder Elmer Cline experienced when first watching a hot air balloon race. A century later, Wonder Bread remains a brand closely tied with lunchrooms, at barbecues, at picnics, and in lunchboxes across the world.

History with the Macy's Parade[]

Wonder Bread made its Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade debut in the 2022 Parade, with an all-new float that celebrated the brand's 101st anniversary known as The Wondership. Design work began nearly a year before the float's debut, with construction taking approximately six months.

The float's airship design pays homage to the hot air balloon race that originally inspired Wonder's iconic branding, reigniting the feelings of "wonder" that founder Elmer Cline experienced more than a century ago. The 35-foot long and 3-story tall Wondership is propelled along the Parade route by the famed red, yellow, and blue balloons and powered by confetti to inspire all to keep looking up.

In a technological first, 900 slices of "bread" (bubbles and helium) were pumped out from the float every 10 to 15 seconds. Jordan Dabby, vice president of partnership marketing for the Parade, said the float was special because it pushed boundaries by investing in new technology.

To coincide with their premier Parade appearance, Wonder partnered with Macy's to launch a sweepstakes that will give one lucky winner a trip to New York City to see the Wondership in action.

The Wondership soared again for another wonderful appearance the 2023 Parade, and yet again Wonder has partnered with Macy's for sweepstakes to give someone a chance to see the parade live in person.
