Yo Gabba Gabba! is an American live action/puppet educational children's television show starring five costumed toys coming to life and their friend DJ Lance Rock. The series premiered on Nick Jr. on August 20, 2007 and ended on November 12, 2015. There is a single topic in each episode, e.g. "Adventure", "Friends", and "Dance", through songs and short storylines in the half-hour program. Additionally, the show teaches children life and social skills, such as sharing and trying new foods.
History with the Macy's Parade
In 2009, Yo Gabba Gabba entered a new float in the 83rd Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, as one of only three new floats that year, to promote their first live show called "There A Party In My City!". The float was recycled from the Harajuku Girls float, and it houses the six main characters, Muno, Foofa, Brobee, Toodee, Plex, and DJ Lance Rock. The float also features many items from Gabbaland, the main location of the show. A giant sculpture of DJ Lance Rock's iconic Boombox serves as the centerpiece of this float. Despite their live shows continuing on until 2014, the float was omitted from the lineup after its only appearance, and was later recycled into the NCAA March Madness float in 2012, which itself would be recycled into the KISS float in 2014. With the show’s cancellation in 2015, as well as it now being seen as outdated and unpopular in the eyes of many, it is unlikely Yo Gabba Gabba will ever be represented again. Despite this, the Boombox of the float is still on display at the Macy's Parade Studio to this day.
